The first meeting involving all the researchers in the project's team took place on June 23rd, at
the Computer Science department of University of Porto, in the Rua do Campo Alegre campus.

Several demos of DRIVE-IN have been done in the context of the third meeting of External
Reviewing Committee (ERC) for the collaborative program between universities in Portugal
and Carnegie Mellon University in the USA - Carnegie-Mellon | Portugal Program in
Information and Communication Technologies - which took place on September 16, 2009
in Aveiro. These demos included the DIVERT VANET simulator and the See-through System.

"Cars will talk with each other to avoid traffic and accidents" - In a few years, cars equiped with NDrive GPS navigation systems, will be able to communicate with each other freely and universaly. They will be able know where traffic jams are and the best way to avoid them. At the present time, the communication is done threw GSM. Carnigie Mellon University is researching on more advanced techniques.. (pdf)

"The Drive-IN project, currently in development, will allow vehicles to communicate and choose routes" - The Drive-IN project (Distributed Routing and Infotainment through Vehicular Inter- Networking) is currently being developed between Carnigie Mellon University, several universities, Instituto de Telecomunicações and NDrive (industrial partner). It will allow the communication between vehicles and smart traffic management.(pdf)
